Printer setup and connection help in Perth

When a printer stops working, the fault may be in the computer, the connection or the printer itself. Tell us what you are trying to print and what happens instead. We can discuss troubleshooting and setup without assuming that you need a new printer.

How Mark helps

  1. Tell Mark what's happening

Call or send a message in your own words. You don't need the technical name.

  2. Agree the plan and cost first

Mark asks a few questions, explains the options and quotes the job. Work starts once you approve the quote.

  3. Fixed, checked and explained

Mark does the agreed work and checks with you before doing anything extra. Before he finishes, he goes over the result with you, so you know what was fixed.

How a job works, step by step

Printer says offline or will not print

Does the printer display an error on its own screen, or does only the computer say it is offline? Does another device still print? Include the exact message and whether the printer connects through a cable or Wi-Fi. These details help establish where to begin.

If you also use its scanner, mention whether scanning has stopped as well. Tell us about recent changes, such as a new router, computer or internet connection. Something that worked before a change is a useful clue, even if you are unsure how the equipment connects.

On a Windows computer, Microsoft's guide to fixing printer connection and printing problems covers the first checks.

Bring the model and the task you need working

Have the printer's make and model ready, along with the computer or phone you print from. A photo of the error can help if it does not expose personal information. You do not need to send a private document to show that printing has failed.

For a new setup, explain whether one person or several people need access, and whether printing or scanning matters most. In a business, check who can approve changes to shared devices. Tell us if the printer is leased or covered by an existing service arrangement before booking work.

Shared office printers and scanning

For a network printer, tell us which computers can print and whether they use the same connection. A new workstation, changed router or replaced server can affect how staff reach it. We can discuss printer setup across the required computers and check the result with a test document.

Scanning may save to a computer, shared folder or email account. Say which method you use and where it stops working. Folder permissions and email settings may need your administrator or provider, so arrange their involvement before changing a shared setup. Use a test page with a few words and no private information to check the destination, access and readable output.

Know the limits of a setup visit

Connection and software problems are different from a damaged paper mechanism or another physical printer fault. Describe unusual noises, damage and any message about parts or consumables when you enquire. We can discuss whether IT troubleshooting is the right next step or the equipment needs its supplier's attention.

Avoid buying replacement ink, cables or a printer just on the basis of an offline message. Ask about the likely work and costs first. If printing works on one device but not another, keep that detail handy and leave the working setup available for comparison during the assessment.
