New computer setup and data transfer in Perth
A new computer is useful when it can do the things you bought it for. We can discuss help getting it connected and ready for your everyday work, including the files and equipment you already use. Planning the move before clearing the old computer avoids unnecessary surprises.

Tell Mark what's happening
Call or send a message in your own words. You don't need the technical name.
Agree the plan and cost first
Mark asks a few questions, explains the options and quotes the job. Work starts once you approve the quote.
Fixed, checked and explained
Mark does the agreed work and checks with you before doing anything extra. Before he finishes, he goes over the result with you, so you know what was fixed.
Transferring files, email and programs from the old computer
Think beyond the Documents folder. You may need photos, saved work, browser bookmarks, email access or files kept in another location. Write down the programs you depend on and any printer, scanner or external drive you want to use with the new machine.
Tell us whether the old computer still runs and whether any files are stored in a cloud account or separate backup. If it no longer starts, discuss the missing files first. Buying a replacement computer does not resolve a fault with the only copy of your data.
Have account access ready, without emailing passwords
You may need to sign in to your own email, software or cloud accounts during setup. Check that you can access the recovery phone or email attached to them. Keep passwords and verification codes out of your enquiry; we can arrange any necessary access together.
Some applications need their own installer, subscription or licence. Tell us about specialist work software before booking, especially when an employer or another IT provider manages it. We can discuss what can be set up and what needs approval or assistance from the software supplier.
Check the everyday tasks before retiring the old machine
A useful handover means trying the things you actually do: opening a familiar document, finding a photo, accessing email and printing something if needed. Agree on the files and tasks to check as part of the work. Mention any accessibility preferences or settings that make the computer easier to use.
Keep the old computer until you have checked the result and have a backup you understand. Ask about a separate plan for personal information before giving it away. For a business computer, include whoever approves account access, software and disposal in those decisions.
