Match Bazzite to the machine
Bazzite's download selector asks about hardware, graphics and desktop preference. Use those choices carefully rather than grabbing the first image. Desktop support and Steam Gaming Mode support are different questions. Check the project's current guidance for your GPU or handheld, especially before planning a living-room setup.
Understand how the system is maintained
Bazzite uses an image-based system with its own update and recovery approach. Follow Bazzite's documentation for application installation and maintenance rather than assuming any Fedora tutorial applies. System rollback can help with some update problems, but it does not replace backing up saves and personal files.
Make the couch setup earn its place
Test the controller, Bluetooth or USB receiver, TV audio, display resolution and the way you return from sleep. For a handheld, include the dock and charging arrangement. A setup that works with a keyboard attached still needs checking from the couch with the controller you intend to use.

Check a separate backup of your files and saves. Plan recovery before changing disks or replacing an operating system.

Should I choose Bazzite or SteamOS?
Start with device support, then the experience you want. SteamOS is Valve's system. Bazzite is a separate project supporting a range of hardware configurations. Neither choice guarantees your entire game library will work.
Can Bazzite be my everyday computer too?
It provides a desktop for general use. Check your everyday apps and peripherals as carefully as your games, particularly if this is also your work or study machine.
Does Bazzite remove anti-cheat problems?
No. Publisher decisions and game-specific Proton support still apply. Check essential multiplayer titles before changing the operating system.
